How the Ebike Speed Controller System Stm32 works

  1. Rechargeable battery supplies the circuit; a regulator gives the controller and sensors a steady 5 V.
  2. The Arduino Uno R3 reads the inputs, runs the decision logic written in C/C++ and drives the outputs.
  3. The Motor driver lets the low-current controller run the motors forward, reverse and at variable speed.
  4. The 0.96-inch OLED display shows readings and graphics on a compact, high-contrast screen.

E&TC / ECE viva questions on this project

What is the aim of the Ebike Speed Controller System Stm32 project?

A speed controller for an electric bike built on an STM32. It reads the throttle and a wheel speed sensor, drives the hub motor through a motor driver and shows the speed on an OLED display.

Explain the working of your project in short.

Rechargeable battery supplies the circuit; a regulator gives the controller and sensors a steady 5 V. The Arduino Uno R3 reads the inputs, runs the decision logic written in C/C++ and drives the outputs. The Motor driver lets the low-current controller run the motors forward, reverse and at variable speed. The 0.96-inch OLED display shows readings and graphics on a compact, high-contrast screen.

What microcontroller is on the Arduino Uno and what are its key specifications?

The Uno uses the ATmega328P: 8-bit, 16 MHz clock, 32 KB flash, 2 KB SRAM, 14 digital I/O pins (6 PWM) and 6 analog inputs with a 10-bit ADC.

Why can't the motor be connected directly to the microcontroller?

A motor needs far more current (hundreds of mA to amps) than a controller pin can supply (about 20–40 mA). The H-bridge driver switches the motor current and allows direction control.

What is the advantage of OLED over LCD?

Each pixel emits its own light, so no backlight is needed. It gives better contrast and viewing angles and uses less power for dark screens.

How do you calculate battery backup time?

Backup time (hours) ≈ battery capacity (Ah) × voltage × 0.8 efficiency ÷ load power (W). For example, 12 V 7 Ah at 20 W gives about 3.3 hours.

What does a 5/2 direction control valve mean?

It has 5 ports (one supply, two outlets and two exhausts) and 2 positions. Switching positions reverses which side of the cylinder receives air.

Explain the block diagram of your project.

The input section senses the real-world quantity, the Arduino Uno R3 processes it according to the program, and the output section displays the result and drives the actuators. The power supply section feeds every block.

Which communication protocols are used between the modules?

I2C for the display, RTC or motion sensor (only SDA and SCL lines). Each protocol was chosen because the module supports it and it uses the fewest pins.

What is the operating voltage of the circuit?

The controller and most sensors work at 5 V (ESP boards and some modules at 3.3 V). The battery powers the board, and a regulator steps it down. Motors and relays get their own supply line so they do not reset the controller.

How did you calculate the power rating of your system?

Using P = V × I for each load, adding a margin of 20 to 25%. Battery capacity is the energy needed per day divided by the battery voltage and allowable depth of discharge.

What is the difference between accuracy and precision?

Accuracy is how close a reading is to the true value. Precision is how close repeated readings are to each other. A sensor can be precise but inaccurate if it is not calibrated.
