B.Arch programmes across India follow the Council of Architecture's minimum standards whichever university the college is affiliated to: five years, ten semesters.
How does the final year project work at B.Arch colleges?
Architectural design is the core studio every semester. The programme includes one semester of practical training in an architect's office and ends with an architectural design thesis judged by an external jury. Many universities add a dissertation or research seminar before the thesis.
What students usually have to submit
- Design studio portfolio each semester: site analysis, concept, drawings, model
- Working drawing sets and building construction sheets
- Practical training report and logbook
- Dissertation or research paper
- Thesis: report, panels, model and jury presentation
